Meet THE BAND

JULIAN

Julian is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist and has been recording and releasing his own music under the name of ‘Blake’ since 2006 (thisisblake.com). Prior to that, Julian was in an indie-rock band called Karma Truffle signed to London-based indie label, Ecto Music. Julian played the role of John Lennon in Beatles tribute band ‘All You Need Is The Beatles’ from 2007 to 2020 and performs as Bob in ‘The Bob Dylan Experience’.

JOE B

Joe Brown started performing on the London music scene in the 1990s and achieved success with his act, Cat Ballou, performing regularly at the world famous Troubadour Club. A gifted singer, songwriter, acoustic guitarist and bassist, Joe has recently released his first album of original material as a solo artist. Joe played the role of Paul McCartney in ‘All You Need Is The Beatles’ from 2007 to 2020.

PAUL

Paul has been playing lead guitar since being inspired by Eric Clapton and Slash as a schoolboy. A prodigious talent, Paul formed Karma Truffle with Julian in the early 2000s having previously worked at Polydor Records. Paul released his first solo album under the moniker ‘Gentou’ in 2014. From 2007 to 2020, Paul performed as George Harrison in ‘All You Need Is The Beatles’. The group toured extensively around Europe, including entertaining guests on Royal Caribbean cruises and several appearances at The Cavern Club in Liverpool.

JOE L

Joe Lovell is in great demand as a drummer and Modern Vintage feel incredibly lucky to have him in their line-up. Joe took over the drum stool from long-time Modern Vintage drummer, Hugh Lyford, in 2024, following Hugh’s retirement from gigging. Joe, like the other band members, is a massive Beatles fan but also keeps the group up-to-date with the latest developments in the music scene. Joe has recently taken possession of a prized new Ludwig drum kit.

TESTIMONIALS

  • What an amazing evening last night with Modern Vintage playing at the village pub for my 70th! A truly fantastic band that had everyone rocking. Even the reluctant dancers made it onto the dance floor! Great musicians with great voices but one of the best things for us was being able to select the playlist from their repertoire so enjoyed every single track. We chose a range of songs from the 50s to the present day. Can thoroughly recommend this band which should be much better known across the South West! Thankyou for a wonderful evening.

    — Lesley Collins (70th Birthday Party) 10/10

  • Not only were they fantastic but they were a really friendly group of guys and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone! If you’re thinking about booking this band don’t just think about it do it, because you won’t be disappointed. I’m just trying to think of events to plan so I can book them again!

    — Karla Canfield 10/10

  • We've seen the Modern Vintage band play at a gala party and at a wedding we booked them for and they have excellent feedback. We really recommend this band any sing along events. Go go go!
